Wicked Olde formed in mid-2013 as a trio featuring Ahnika Emery (fiddle), Tim Noone (harmonica, guitar & vocals) and Ray Sheehan (guitar & vocals).

In June 2014, Heather Butler (a Celtic music friend of Ray’s) joined on fiddle, mandolin and vocals. She brought in Brigitte DeHaven on lead vocals, keyboard, percussions, and bass.

From 2019-2025, Jim Toye added his lead singing voice and rhythm guitar to the group. With his departure, Dave Macklin stepped in on rhythm guitar. Jim Stickley, a very experienced percussionist who also plays whistle joined in 2026 after helping us on our new CD.

The group is now a quintet featuring strong instrumental teamwork with 3-part and 4-part harmonies. We hope you like it.
Ray Sheehan
Ray Sheehan  Lead and Fingerstyle Guitar, Vocals
Raised in an Irish American neighborhood, Ray naturally gravitated toward traditional Irish folk songs  and the Celtic jigs and reels but only after 30 years of the Beatles, Byrds, and CSN. In 2002, he helped found Fairfax's Celtic group Cool McFinn. He, Tim Noone & Ahnika Emery, formed Wicked Olde in 2013 as a vehicle for exploring all their musical influences. Aside from music, Ray, a retired Federal attorney, primarily spends his time on family, a bit of travel, and a very poor golf game.

Heather Butler  Violin, Mandolin, Vocals
Heather chose a career in music therapy so she could use her skills and joy of music to assist those with  disabilities. Moving to the Shenandoah Valley, she was exposed to old time, bluegrass, country, and  Celtic music. She currently plays in several ensembles, including Wicked Olde and, with Ray, Brigitte, and Gina Faber, in the Celtic group Finn McCool. Recently retired as the Director of the Newtown Music Center she taught a variety of instruments to students of all ages and ran cultural events that help to bring educational opportunities to the entire community. Heather also performs with the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra.

Brigitte DeHaven  Vocals, Keyboard
Brigitte performed diverse musical styles including contemporary with the duo Sweet Stuff, classical and sacred with the National Cathedral Choral Society and Sweet Adelines before joining Wicked Olde. Brigitte sang in church and at local events from the time she could talk. She began piano lessons at age six, and has taught piano, served as pianist/organist, and directed adult and children’s choirs since she was a teen.  She has taught elementary through college music and math and now focuses on her private studio in northwest Virginia. Brigitte enjoys singing a cappella in Windsong Community Chorus. She serves as the pianist/organist and choir director at BMW Fellowship United Methodist Church.

Dave Macklin  Rhythm Guitar, Vocals
Dave's musical career began in 6th grade with  a solo on “Haul Away Joe.” He is still a bit scarred having to sing about kissing girls to avoid moldy lips as a 12 year old! He started playing guitar and singing in his early teens trying to copy his older sisters. About 10 years ago he started playing publicly with his UU congregation band and choir. A fan of The Beatles, Eagles, and America, Dave loves the interplay between singers and musicians and the magic that happens when it all comes together.

Jim Stickley  Percussion, Whistle
Born and raised in Falls Church, Virginia, Jim has played percussion instruments since age 8 and is a former member of the US Army’s Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps. Retired from FCPS, Jim is an active session player on bodhran and whistles and was formerly a snare drummer in the City of Alexandria Pipes & Drums. Jim is often found at Irish and Scottish sessions in Northern Virginia and performs frequently with traditional musicians in the area. Jim’s retirement gig is building a home bedroom recording studio along with practicing and when not doing either, taking care of his honey-do list.
